The Road to Enlightenment

The Whanganui Trust

Welcome to The Whanganui Trust, the charitable arm of Morikaunui Incorporation.

In April 2009, The Whanganui Trust gained its registration with the Charities Commission.  It was the first Trust authorised in 1965 to hold unclaimed dividends in trust relating to Maori land and its original Trust Deed has been deemed acceptable, after nine month's consideration.

Shareholders in Morikau and their descendents are eligible to apply for grants and scholarships from The Whanganui Trust.  There are up to four Under-graduate Scholarships awarded annually and usually one Post-graduate Scholarship every second year.  There is also an Agri-Business scholarship and a  Farm Training or Trade Scholarship scholarship.

The only way of applying for grant or scholarship from the Trust is on one of the forms downloadable from here (see below).  If you can't access them from here, please contact the office.
